Braganza House GoaTour Booking
It is one of the oldest heritage houses of Goa. This has been the traditional family home of the Braganzas for many than four centuries. Even today, the lady of the house, Mrs Braganza, an octogenararian, still lives in the house and takes the visitors to a tour of the house herself. The Braganza House in Goa was constructed by the Braganza family in the 16th century for their two sons: Menezes Braganza and Pereira Braganza. The family was however forced to flee the mansion in 1950 AD during the freedom struggle. However, when the scions of the family returned twelve years later, they were surprised to find the house intact. Though they were expecting the worst, nothing of the sort happened and the house retained its original glory, even after so many years.
The house was subsequently renovated by Menezes Braganza and his brother. It was partitioned into two divisions: the western wing being named after Menezes Braganza and the eastern wing after Pereira Braganza. The western wing of the house is lined with beautiful chandeliers and dirtied glass windows that are sure to catch your eyes. There is also a chapel and ballroom inside the house. The library within the Braganza house is one of the biggest private libraries in the state of Goa. Many of the original works of art have been preserved till date and after seeing them, one gets a feel of the bygone era. There is also a fruit orchard at the back of the house which one can see before concluding his visit to the house. Best Selling Goa Tours
