The government of Goa acknowledged the capability of its denizens and resolved to create a universal podium that would help budding artists showcase their abilities to the world. With this noble intent, the idea of Sangeet Sammelan was born. The Sangeet Sammelan in Goa has helped some artisans to fine tune their skills and discover the latent potential of their abilities.

The Sangeet Sammelan had one objective in mind i.e. to advance the interest and appreciation of Konkani and Marathi abilities in Goa. Today, it has virtually become like a practice for the Goan population to appear at the Sangeet Sammelan. It has in addition aided immensely to advance recognition about the value of Goan society and art. To help the participants in this endeavour, the Sangeet Sammelan has over the years requested some renowned artistes from the Konkani music fraternity to extend their patronage to these budding artistes.

There are a large number of local music bands in Goa that have been initiated by the enterprising youths of the state. The Sangeet Sammelan gives a platform to these players to showcase their talent in front of a crowd of thousands. Something they would take years to achieve.A number of music bands have received good monetary support from high net worth individuals and corporates. The event is usually inaugurated by the Chief minister of the state and proceeds to the introduction of music bands, singers and composers who go on to perform live.
