As the title proposes the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier, is dedicated to St Francis Xavier. Santo Padre, as he was known as, is presumed to have constructed this chapel himself. It is accepted that he would perform mass here regularly. Some other ones, although, are of the attitude that the churches was assembled in respect of St. Francis Xavier, after his death. Another intriguing chronicled conviction, associated to the churches, proceeds that, it was one of the two chapels that one time stood on the flower bed of St Paul's college. The last cited was a prestigious school of Old Goa, established behind the chapel. There are scripts, which endorse the detail that the churches were dedicated to St Anthony or St Jerome, the two chapels of the flower bed of St Paul's college. The architectural method of the Chapel of St. Francis Xavier scrounges from the Doric style. Laterite plaster and lime mortar has been utilised for the building of the church. The tiled top covering of the churches is sustained by timber rafters. The ease of the churches adds to the charm of the place. There is just one altar, made of the identical lime mortar blend and plastered with laterite, as remainder of the church.
